Controversy
Disputes with ANTV in Surabaya
Global TV has applied for airing in Surabaya using UHF 24 channel (679.25 MHz) because since almost a year the people around Surabaya can not enjoy Global TV service, but the channel is used for ANTV based on license no. 00781311-000SU / 202006 which is valid until 31st September 2008.
Previously, Global TV dared to provide television services for the community around Surabaya after obtaining permission from the Governor of East Java about the extension of Global TV broadcast coverage in Surabaya and Sidoarjo Regency (6 January 2003). The previous similar letter of approval has also been given successively by the Regent of Surabaya (20 November 2005) and the Madurese Regent (27 November 2005).
In 2008, Head of Radio Frequency Monitoring and Satellite Orbit Satellite Surabaya and Gresik based on direct monitoring conducted in Surabaya on June 20, 2007, UHF 24 channel in Surabaya was used by Global TV.
This made Global TV received a warning from the Director General of Post and Telecommunication on April 21, 2007 because Global TV does not have official permission to air in Surabaya and Surroundings. However, at that time Global TV still airs in Surabaya using the same channel (24 UHF), so the people there can not receive Global TV and ANTV with clear images.
Then in June 2008, the Director General of Post and Telecommunications gave a final warning to Global TV because Global TV was still broadcasting in Surabaya using the same channel that had previously been given to ANTV by Ditjen Postel. This can be solved by national frequency control.
